We’re so glad you found us! We host a variety of projects each month to make it easy for families like yours to get out of the house and into the community. We take care of the planning and details so you can enjoy the experience of volunteering with your kids.  You can count on us to make making a difference fun and meaningful for everyone in your family.

  • How do I sign up for a Honeycomb project?First, join our mailing list to stay in the loop.  Browse our upcoming events here on our website and find a project that interests you and fits in with your schedule. Registration opens on the 15th of the month prior to the event. With just a few clicks, we’ll have you registered. 
  • How much does it cost to attend?Our projects are free but we ask volunteer families to donate if they can to help cover our program costs. Your donations help us research and develop projects, staff our events, and pay for other necessary supplies like wheelbarrows and waffle mix.
  • How old do you have to be to volunteer with Honeycomb? All ages are welcome – most projects are best suited kids ages 5 and up. You can expect to work together with other families – including volunteers of varying ages and abilities. All kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No drop-off allowed. 
  • Honeycomb events fill so fast – what do I do now?Thanks for your patience – we’re hard at work expanding our opportunities. In the meantime, check out our resources page, complete with DIY projects and more.
  • Can I host a project for my company or group? You bet. Contact us to learn more about how to get your group involved with Honeycomb by sending us an email at .
  • Where does the name The Honeycomb Project come from? Bees work together to make their hive a place where everyone can thrive. We believe that Honeycomb volunteers, like bees in a colony, can accomplish great things when we share our skills and work together toward a common goal.

We have an amazing team of adults helping us out at The Honeycomb Project, and we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them.  Our passionate volunteers share their skills and expertise to help build the hive from the inside out.

How would you like to get involved? 




Help Lead a Project

Volunteer to help our Project Leaders to deliver the very best family volunteer events. Our volunteers are party hosts, teachers, and organizers. They love working with kids and don’t mind getting their hands dirty. 

If this sounds like just your thing, please fill out our volunteer application and plan to attend an upcoming orientation.  After completing a background check, we’ll send you our calendar of upcoming projects. You can sign-up for any available project that meets your interests and schedule (usually 3-4 hours per project). Full position description.

Share Your Professional Skills

If you have a little time to spare, we can surely use your help. Please apply today and tell us more about how you would like to get involved.  We’ll contact you as soon as we have a role that meets your interests. We are currently seeking volunteers to help with:

Honeycomb Leadership Corps

The Honeycomb Leadership Corps (HLC), is a new program for teens/parents looking to take their leadership with Honeycomb to the next level. Members of HLC build their skills and volunteer behind-the-scenes at Honeycomb events - assisting Honeycomb Project Leaders with all aspects of the program including helping out with day-of logistics, teaching volunteer tasks, and mentoring younger children.

    • Must be a current, active Honeycomb volunteer family (minimum of 3 projects in the last calendar year).
    • Teen and parent must commit to volunteer together at one Honeycomb event per month (10/year).
    • Participants must be willing to attend 3 Honeycomb Leadership Corps training sessions throughout the year (held on Sundays 11-1 pm).
    • Teen applicants must be in high school and 14-17 years old.

Application for the 2019 HLC are closed. Don’t worry! We always welcome (and encourage) teens and their parents to join us at our regular public programs.
