Hi, my name is Mariya Mujahid and I’m from the south suburbs of Chicago, Oak Lawn, to be exact. I’m a sophomore at Universal School and even though I live in the suburbs, I love Chicago and the many things it has to offer. I love the deep-dish pizza (all food, really), the beaches, and Navy Pier. An issue in Chicago that I want to fix is racism and ignorance. I know it’s hard to achieve, but over time I believe it can be accomplished. I hope to improve my communication skills and outlook on the world through the HLC, and I’m excited to be given the opportunity to meet new people and make a difference in the world.
