My name is Rebecca Reid. I live in the Beverly community located on the Southwest side of Chicago. I am a sophomore at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School. Chicago is an extremely beautiful city. There are multiple reasons why I love living here. I love Chicago for its vast diversity in multiple ways. I also find Chicago to be a very vibrant city with many things to see, to do, and to experience. The skyline is so captivating and never gets any less beautiful after seeing it everyday. Although Chicago has many challenges, I am dedicated to helping children in need and helping to foster substantial positive change in and outside of my community. Knowing that I have contributed in making someone else’s life better, makes me so happy and inspires me to continue to work on the behalf of others. By being involved in HLC, I believe that I can develop better leadership skills, while I learn what it takes to efficiently and effectively manage service projects. I would also like to make new friends among others who share similar interests and passions. I’m also very excited to be exposed to other ideas on how we can help Chicago communities.
