Breeze Fromm-Sarto

Breeze Fromm-Sarto has lived in Chicago for seven years, but her impact on the city will be felt for years to come.“I moved from Wisconsin to attend DePaul University,” says Breeze, “and when I graduated in the Fall of 2017, I started an internship with Honeycomb.” In her part-time role, Breeze wore many hats…helping at projects sites, packing up event supplies, meeting new families and assisting with fundraisers.

Breeze’s role quickly evolved when she became a full-time Program Coordinator shortly after her internship began, and this past winter she was promoted to Program Manager. “Honeycomb had a great foundation and base already,” she stressed. “In my role I’ve strengthened our volunteer and internship management processes and streamlined program practices.” She is also working to create new partnerships and expand Honeycomb’s most popular projects including preparing healthy and fresh meals at shelters.“And I love hearing from our partners such as Mission of Our Lady of the Angels (Volunteer at a Free Store), that they can always rely on Honeycomb,” she continues…”it’s amazing to hear what Honeycomb means to them.”

Cooking Up Comfort at Sarah’s Circle (a women-only shelter) was born out of Breeze’s connection when looking for new project kitchen space. “I am so proud to help bring this project to Honeycomb,” she says, “…it was great to find this new site, define the leadership roles and build out the menu.” With Breeze’s leadership of this program, Honeycomb families have prepared more than 1,200 home-cooked lunches for woman staying at the shelter.

“I feel so lucky that I’m able to get my generation involved in their City and get them out of their comfort zones,” she proudly states. “And it’s great to show families that they have the power to give back.”

Outside of Honeycomb, Breeze loves cooking and grilling up new recipes. She is an animal lover and is always up for live music shows and concerts. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Breeze lives in Humboldt Park.
