Volunteer Spotlight

Yagan Family

Say hello to Jessica, Sam, Maggie (6), Jack (3), and Max (6 months). Jessica and Sam were seeking a way to connect to their community and spend time with each other at the same time.  Jessica said that she was “looking for a way to teach my kids about what it means to be a community — where everyone does their part.” We’re so happy that she found the Honeycomb Project!

Since joining us in 2011(we found this cute photo from their first Honeycomb event), Jessica and the rest of the Yagans have become self-described “Honeycomb evangelists,” sharing the joy they receive from family volunteering and Honeycomb events with other people.  Not only does volunteering together make them feel closer to their community, Jessica believes it brings them closer to other like-minded families, and closer to each other. In addition to volunteering with Honeycomb as a family, Sam and Jessica are actively involved behind-the-scenes helping us expand our family volunteer program.  Outside of The Honeycomb Project, the Yagans love spending time with one another by going to the park, sharing meals, and reading (or being read to!). Jessica and Sam also continue to make their communities stronger by supporting “social entrepreneurs who are changing systems and markets to make the world better.”
