Volunteer Spotlight

Chris (center) recently celebrated his first anniversary of joining the Honeycomb Project. Chris is a key player on our behind-the-scenes team as our Education and Outreach Coordinator. He does a little bit of everything for us including putting together awesome fact sheets and our summer of service calendars for our Honeycomb families to use.

For the past few years, Chris has been working with several youth-focused nonprofit and government organizations in Chicago, including 826CHI and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. He joined The Honeycomb Project right after he graduated from DePaul University. “At DePaul they stressed the importance of being involved with your community and helping those in need, and I believe my work with the Honeycomb Project and other nonprofits reflects those values,” he said. Additionally, he enjoys working with kids and knowing he is influencing the next generation in a positive way.

Outside of The Honeycomb Project, Chris serves as an Americorps member at the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago and is the Editor in Chief of a literary magazine that focuses on publishing work from marginalized writers and artists.
