Robinson Family

Involved for just a couple of years, the Robinson Family and their two young children have made their impact on Honeycomb Project.

“I heard about Honeycomb through a good friend,” says mom, Krista…”my friend was such a proponent of the organization, so I knew this was something my family could support and get behind too.”

Since then, Krista and her husband, Chris, and their two children, Charlie (age 8.5), Jonny (age 7) and have volunteered at various Honeycomb events, attending several forest preserve projects at Ted Lechowicz Woods.

But coming downtown for the Holiday Cheer Challenge in December is a favorite.  “We live in the suburbs now,” says Krista, “and the Holiday Cheer is such a neat opportunity to introduce the kids to Honeycomb and also experience the city sites and attractions.”

During the Holiday Cheer Challenge, families participate in a scavenger hunt around downtown, doing simple tasks to make others smiles -- such as singing carols or giving thank you notes to city workers.

The Robinsons aka “The Filthy Animals” (team name), have supported the event through family sponsorship, helping to raise vital funds to fuel Honeycomb’s volunteer programs.

Krista says, “we’ve sponsored the event for two years and my kids think it’s so fun and exciting. Thinking of others through the spirit of the event is perfect for their age.”

As Charlie and Jonny get older, Krista and Chris are excited to see how their boys will evolve through volunteering as youth.

We want to make more of a difference in our communities,” says Krista. “What my family has done so far has been a great start -- we can see Charlie and Jonny are making more connections about how the work done with Honeycomb has an impact.  We look forward to staying involved.”

The Robinson Family lives in Wilmette.  Krista is an actuary and Chris is an accounting consultant. Charlie loves to ice skate, swim and dance and Jonny enjoys sports such as football and soccer. The family enjoys spending their time together outdoors—traveling, skiing and bike riding.
