Take Action For A Greener Chicago!

Nature reminds us that we’re all connected—and responsible for protecting our shared home.

Honeycomb is committed to protecting our planet—not just during Earth Month, but all year long. Through our programs, Honeycomb kids learn how to restore beaches, parks, and playgrounds across our city. They engage in upcycling, recycling, and growing fresh food for neighbors in need.

Whether you’ve volunteered with us for years or are looking to get involved for the first time, it’s up to all of us to keep our world green. Explore dozens of volunteer projects, at-home activities, and Green Bee eco-missions that will help us take the first step toward a healthy planet, together.

Get started today!

We’re in this together

Nonprofits across Chicago are facing a huge surge in demand, with limited resources. Honeycomb helps fill the gap by providing the leadership, volunteers, and resources needed to sustain their work.

You make this possible. In 2025, we’re rolling out 80+ hands-on environmental projects, engaging over 2,500 volunteers to create lasting impact. Your donation keeps these programs free for the nonprofits and families we serve.

Every $35 you donate mobilizes one new volunteer — $100 mobilizes a whole family.

The Green Bee Challenge

Step up as an everyday environmentalist and incorporate "green" practices into your daily life this Earth Month with Honeycomb’s 5th Annual Green Bee Challenge!

By signing up for this month-long initiative, you will gain access to 50+ missions that can be done at home or around your neighborhood. Together, we will explore concepts such as sustainability, carbon footprints, waste reduction, and more.

For the month of April, you and your team will complete this project independently on your own schedule. Missions go live on our interactive app on April 1st—log your progress and find inspiration from the other Green Bee teams! Stand out submissions will be shared on Honeycomb social media platforms.

Teams of families, friends, classrooms, clubs, sports teams, scout groups, or corporate groups… ALL are welcome!

With dozens of environmental volunteer projects to choose from, your family can make a real, tangible impact across Chicago all Earth Month long! Sort recycled items and materials, maintain our city’s natural habitats, and more—get outside and make a difference this April!
