Honoring Our Dedicated Volunteers!

The Honeycomb Project is excited to announce that we are now a certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award! This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action too.

All recipients will be honored at our 4th Annual Holiday Cheer Challenge in downtown Chicago on December 8th, 2024. All awardees will receive a complimentary ticket. Please carefully read through the following eligibility guidelines, submission instructions, and FAQs to qualify for the award.

The 2024 deadline to submit volunteer hours for this award is November 12th, 2024 at 11:59PM

Volunteer Eligibility

  • United States citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States (i.e., green card holder)

  • Must be at least five years old

  • Completes eligible service within a 12-month period (for annual Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards) and over a lifetime (for Lifetime Achievement Awards)

  • Completes the required hours listed for their age category

  • Donating funds

  • Political lobbying (Non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)

  • Religious instruction

  • Conducting worship service

  • Proselytizing

  • Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service

  • Serving only family members

Eligible service is defined as unpaid acts of volunteer service benefitting others. The following services are NOT eligible for volunteer hours.

Submitting Hours

  1. Make a copy of the PVSA Hour Submission Template

  2. Fill in the template with your name, email, age, and details for each volunteer project you completed this year.

3. Share your completed PSVA Hour Submission Template to Joy at joy@thehoneycombproject.org

Q: Do my volunteer hours outside of Honeycomb count?

Yes, as long as your volunteer service is not in one of the ineligible categories above. Make sure to note the organization you volunteered with on your hour submission template.

Q: How do I check my completed projects with Honeycomb?

Please email Joy at joy@thehoneycombproject.org to see your project history.

Q: Do I have to attend Holiday Cheer Challenge to get a PVSA?

No, but we want to celebrate you! If you can not attend, we can mail you your award.

Q: When does the 12-month award period start and end?

Since the deadline for this award is on 11/12/24, please include any volunteer service you completed from 11/12/23 - 11/12/24.
