Eifert Family

Growing up in Malaysia, Sandrine Eifert was exposed to a world of service. Now, it’s especially important to her and her husband Scott, that their kids are born into a family of volunteering.

“My family believes in giving back and Honeycomb not only teaches compassion, but also how to be responsible and care for your community,” says Sandrine.

The Eifert Family has clocked almost 40 Honeycomb projects since they started volunteering in 2018. Sandrine and Scott clearly remember their first event.  Their daughter, Clio, was four years-old and enjoyed baking cookies for families staying at the Illinois Medical District (IMD) Guest House.

Now every month, the family of four creates their Honeycomb event Wish List and when monthly online registration opens at 9am, they are ready to go. Clio (now 8) and her brother, Brode (age 11), enjoy events related to hunger and the environment. “My kids love preparing food and cooking for others and also love spending time helping in the outdoors,” says Sandrine.  “The Ravenswood Food Pantry is a family favorite, as well as projects at the forest preserve or the beach.”

Most recently, the Eifert Family participated in Honeycomb’s Summer Swarm – a citywide supply drive benefiting students served by UCAN in North Lawndale. August's drive provided new school supplies for over 200 K-12 students as well as dorm essentials for 50 soon-to-be college freshmen.

“It was a great day for my family to pass out supplies and see the happy faces of the future/current college students and the proud parents,” says Sandrine.  “Definitely an eye-opening experience talking to all the young adults headed to college for the first time…it meant a lot to these students.”

Outside of attending Honeycomb Project events, the Eifert family keep busy. Sandrine is in IT personalization marketing and Scott is a Product Owner in the tech industry.  Clio enjoys playing the piano, sailing and hopes to be a junior lifeguard.  Brode plays the guitar, water polo and loves ninja warrior training. The family lives in Armour Square and likes to travel, camp and cook together.
