Contributing to our Communities
As neighbors, we strive to care for each other, support each other through difficult times, and create a city where everyone feels at home.
We are all a part of one big Chicago community. From welcoming immigrants and refugees, to supporting local businesses, learn more about how your family can build communities of change with Honeycomb at Home: Community.
Donate
Your gift today helps sustain Honeycomb at Home as a free public resource available to kids, families, and teacher during the COVID-19 crisis. Through engaging self-guided activities, kids learn social responsibility, empathy, and civic action. Lessons that last a lifetime.
Every $35 you donate mobilizes one new volunteer — $100 mobilizes a whole family.

Veteran Visibility
For returning veterans, adjusting back to civilian life can be challenging in more ways than one. We all need community support, outlets of creativity, and moments of self-care to nurture our minds and mental health. Showing community care and providing these resources to veterans is a vital part of supporting them.
Neighborhood Good
We are a city full of people with diverse backgrounds and journeys. Connecting with and checking in on your neighbors is a vital part of building strong communities. And it's easier than you might think! When we extend a gesture of welcoming and care we start a chain reaction of support throughout our neighborhood.
Live Local
When you shop local, you're not only helping the business itself, but all of the people it employs. Supporting local businesses is an important part of strengthening our community, and you can do it from home! Many small businesses provide delivery and curbside pick up to provide you with the services you need and to keep their businesses afloat.
Support Frontline Workers
Angelo and Eddie worked in the West Village for over 30 years keeping the streets and sidewalks clean. On the day Angelo retired, the neighborhood came out to show their support for all he did to create community along his route. People like Angelo are on the frontlines working in grocery stores, driving public transit, and delivering mail, keeping our communities safe and connected.
Caring For Each Other
Caring for ourselves and caring for each other is an important part of creating healthy and supported communities. Self-care is for everyone. We all deserve space to experience relaxation, support, and care. Showing care for one another helps us to feel connected and helps to create spaces of healing during difficult times.
Express Yourself
Art is a creative way to explore your identity and your culture. From wool blankets to patterned earrings, the art celebrated at Eighth Generation is honoring Native American artists and the beautiful work they create to express and share their cultures.
Celebrate Heritage
Music is linked to our cultural identity. Mariachi Flor de Toloache is New York City's first all women mariachi band. Fueled by a love for their culture, these bandmates upended convention by creating an empowering space for women in mariachi. By reclaiming space in tradition, Mariachi Flor de Toloache continue to preserve and celebrate their cultural heritage.
